Maria glamor. Masha Fedorova is the editor-in-chief of VOGUE Russia. Biography. About possible prospects

In the “Mark of Quality” section, we ask relevant, personal and sometimes tricky questions to the most significant characters in fashionable Moscow. Our new heroine - Chief Editor popular magazine Glamor Maria Fedorova - tells what is more important - shoes or a bag - and which trend is so terrible that it urgently needs to be banned!

Shoes or bag? Which accessory do you think is more important?
Both are important, it's just that a bag can be more versatile than shoes.

What shoe trend do you think has confidently carried over into the fall from the summer season?
Autumn is already in full swing, but from summer we got sneakers with dresses, and different ones, not just white ones. Probably, special fashionistas will wear it if the weather permits. There are still, of course, stiletto heels and pointed shoes. In my opinion, the real squeak is the high, slightly old-woman neckline and the relatively stable heel, triangular in shape, solid. A bit of an old-fashioned look.

High heels or sneakers?
For me, rather, although everything is learned by comparison and everything is good in moderation. If you wear sneakers all the time, then sooner or later you will want to wear stiletto heels, they just don’t have to be a killer height. Low-heeled shoes are very fashionable now - they can also pass for stilettos, but are much more comfortable.

A tote bag or a small but roomy clutch?
In my case, the bag is a tote, because no matter how big the clutch is, nothing will fit into it. My phone, iPhone 7+, doesn’t fit into any clutch at all, and if it does, it’s just that and nothing else. And I like to carry everything I have with me.

If we talk about bags, then, it seems to me, there will remain models over the shoulder, with a large flap, one clasp, on a removable strap, which can be changed according to the mood, changing appearance bags. It is very comfortable.

Do you have more shoes or bags?
More shoes, because with my rather large size (41.5), you start grabbing everything as soon as you see it, without thinking about how many times you will wear this pair. It’s just that if the shoes are in your size, you should definitely take them, so the number of stilettos that were bought and worn only 2-3 times, of course, sometimes scares me. But now I also have a whole collection of sneakers.

Is it possible to work in fashion and not be a shopaholic?
It seems to me that not being a shopaholic is quite simple, I think that real fashion workers are not shopaholics. Work dulls the desire to have an infinite number of things, because you stop perceiving it as some kind of reward. You just start choosing cool things for yourself. This is where professionalism lies - in the fact that you can afford to buy anything and everything, but you only buy what you like and settle on one thing. I strive for this, it doesn’t always work out, but I strive.

The essential minimum set of shoes that you think every lady should have?
Very complex issue, because it all depends on the weather conditions, where you live and your occupation. Some people need several types of heels, others need several pairs of comfortable shoes.
1. I would say that you need classic ones, perhaps on a small platform, not “irons”, which are already out of fashion, but classic ones, close to the 1970s, suede or - they will go with all evening dresses and will look good with socks or tights (which is a rather subtle story, but some people succeed).
2. Not necessary yet white, but not black.
3. Boots with a stable, almost square heel, maybe an accordion, if they suit your figure, in a classic autumn color, red or brown. They will also go with jeans and dresses.

4. I would definitely add comfortable warm boots, maybe even. Just don’t overuse them too much - they are convenient for the weekend, for running out into the street or running to work, but when you wear them very often, you relax and stop keeping yourself in tune, you lose your sense of fashion, the “comfort” mode turns on.

5. Even this season, designers proposed a compromise between practicality and fashion - they are sustainable (ideal for our Russian frosty roads) and understandable from a stylistic point of view. Nowadays it's fashionable to mix feminine and masculine styles, so wear them with a light turtleneck dress - it's a nice contrast.
The most monstrous shoe trend that needs to be banned urgently? One of the most monstrous trends, in my opinion, is the attempt to combine sneakers with stiletto heels. There is only one brand that did a good job with wedge sneakers, this is everything else - a complete failure, and I am glad that this trend has died down. Another unique fashion, of course, is for square noses; for now it only persists in fashionable luxury brands

Should you travel with a large suitcase or lightly?
I travel with one large or two small suitcases because I like to have everything at hand, for any weather, for any situation. However, the more I travel and fly further, the more I learn to fit into smaller shapes and try to travel light. It doesn't always work out, but I'm working on myself.

When the weather is such that it is impossible to escape from the blues, what can help?
Usually work saves very well, a large amount of it, or large interesting projects. If that doesn't help, then a good movie good company or a series, preferably not a depressing one, but with events unfolding somewhere in the south. I remember, as a child, I was saved by a Brazilian TV series, I had no idea what was happening there, but in the mornings I saw the beach on the screen, and it made me happy and saved me.

In fact good mood and a positive attitude towards life always energizes - both in winter and in summer. A nice pair of shoes can also lift your spirits if you fly in them and feel cool.

“Smart people don’t read glossy magazines, they publish them,” - this is exactly the phrase that was heard in the film in 2007 Andrei Konchalovsky "Gloss". But now, in 2014, “glamor in Russian” makes itself known less and less often, and the “smart people” who publish gloss continue to publish it, but for people no less smart. And in the Russian fashion industry since September 1998 (launch date Vogue Russia) to this day the ball is ruled by a woman whose name has become a household name. Former editor-in-chief of Russian Vogue, currently heading Interview Russia, Alena Doletskaya celebrates his birthday today. website congratulates the ideologist of “our” version of the most authoritative fashion publication and recalls the 7 chief editors of Russian gloss who you need to know by sight.

Alena Doletskaya

Victoria Davydova

Vika Davydova started her career in a magazine Vogue together with Doletskaya. A year after the launch of the publication, Davydova was ranked in the domestic Vogue position of beauty editor and became one of those valuable personnel, without which, in fact, Doletskaya would not have been able to make Russian Vogue an authoritative fashion publication.

5 years later in 2004, Victoria was offered the position of editor-in-chief Glamor, which she readily accepted. Just like Doletskaya, she launched the Russian version fashion magazine a triumphant event. It took Davydova only six months for the magazine to reach a record circulation of 800 thousand copies at that time and become the best-selling glossy magazine in Russia. In September 2008, Vika headed Tatler, while remaining a consulting editor for Glamor. But already in July 2010, Davydova returned to where she began her fashion career - to the publication Vogue. This time as editor-in-chief.

« Victoria Davydova- a brilliant professional, capable of making any magazine. She is amazingly efficient, has clear systems thinking, dedication and the ability to achieve maximum results from her team,- the now former president spoke about replacing Doletskaya in the person of Davydova Conde Nast Russia Karina Dobrotvorskaya. -She perfectly understands the reader for whom she works, masters all the laws of glossy journalism, and instantly grasps fashion and journalistic trends. I have no doubt that Victoria will do wonderful Vogue- fresh, modern, bright, edgy and elegant."

Davydova turned around Vogue towards the Russian market, changing the appearance and content of the publication. She paid more attention to the interests of Russian readers and began to focus less on the West.

"I would take InStyle to the category of lifestyle magazines rather than purely fashion publications, since we are not so much about fashion as about things that, yes, can be very good in themselves and be in fashion, but which you need to be able to choose correctly - depending on the type figure, age, mood, time of day and year,- Guaruskaite talked about her brainchild even before the release of the first issue of the magazine. - InStyle does not publish review articles about certain fashion trends or long interviews with designers. Other magazines do this very well. We are talking about what and how to wear this season, how to wear makeup, what hairstyles to do, how to receive guests, what places to go, where to go on vacation. In a word, a fascinating guide to how to make your life more colorful, elegant and convenient. Wherein InStyle does not lecture, but, by showing a sea of examples, helps to make a choice. A very correct and win-win approach to the audience from a commercial point of view.”

InStyle organizes various events every year. For example, a party Beauty Bar, where leading beauty brands present new cosmetic products and procedures to guests, conduct lectures and master classes, and an event Celebrity Suite, where are the magazine stylists InStyle preparing actresses for the red carpet MIFF, fashion show The Show. At all events of the magazine, as well as at other important parties, the head of the magazine always appears Jurate Gurauskaite.

Posta-Magazine observed
for guests and nominees

before and after the ceremony and chatted
with the editor-in-chief of Glamor.

Russian Glamor presented the “Woman of the Year” award for the eighth time. This year the ceremony took place at the Russian Academic Youth Theater. This is probably why the atmosphere was casual and relaxed. The theme of the current show was “The Great Gatsby” by Baz Luhrmann, so all the musical numbers (as well as the outfits of some of the guests) were made in the style of the acclaimed film. The main intrigue of the evening - who will become “Woman of the Year” - as expected, remained until the end of the ceremony. Happy owner of the honorary title, founder charitable foundation“Planet of the World”, journalist and it-girl Miroslava Duma, already known not only in Russia, was announced by the magazine’s editor-in-chief Masha Fedorova. Other winners include designer of the year Anastasia Romantsova, model of the year Sasha Luss, fashionista of the year Natasha Goldenberg, couple of the year Ravshana Kurkova and Ilya Bachurin, diva of the year Nika Belotserkovskaya, actress of the year Svetlana Khodchenkova, breakthrough of the year Vera Polozkova, man of the year Danila Kozlovsky, TV presenter of the year Yana Churikova, TV actress of the year Elena Podkaminskaya, singer of the year Polina Gagarina. Posta-Magazine asked Glamor editor-in-chief Masha Fedorova about the principle by which readers and editors selected the main winners.

Glamor editor-in-chief Masha Fedorova - Posta-Magazine:

Many of our magazine’s heroines and nominees are people who, for the most part, do something beautiful, bright, and socially significant in this life. Our readers, of course, still want to see a celebration of life even more than the prose of life. But we, nevertheless, try to keep this social bar high. We try to celebrate such people in the magazine every month; we simply cannot fail to mention at the awards those who contribute to socially active life. Miroslava Duma, for example, became “woman of the year” because, in addition to her social life, she spends most of her time on charity; she is, of course, one of those people who raised this activity to a completely different level and made it a norm of life for rich and famous.

“Man of the Year” Danila Kozlovsky, apparently, is for our readers, if not a sex symbol, then certainly the image of the man they wanted to have next to them. It’s nice that this is not just a cute boy or a sweet-voiced singer, but a good actor who had big premieres in Russia this year and is becoming noticeable in the West.

We didn’t always have the “Diva of the Year” nomination. In my opinion, this is a very beautiful formulation and beautiful name, a kind of status for a woman. A diva is not only a fashionista or a beauty or a singer. This is a concept that unites many nuances in the perception of a woman. The beauty of this award is that completely different women can be nominated. Why is it Nika Belotserkovskaya this year? When we proposed her candidacy to readers, they happily supported us, because the club of her fans, especially in the Internet space, is very wide. Nika is obviously an event in the life of our country, so to speak, a star, and an absolutely charming person. And she works a lot, she has a lot of projects, although we only see the outside. So her victory is natural.

Maria Lemesheva (The Hollywood Reporter). Winner in the category TV Actress of the Year Elena Podkaminskaya

The day before our interview Veronica Fedorova celebrated its twentieth anniversary in Simacheve" and danced equally joyfully with the guys from " Pleshki"(where he studies " international school business and global economy" since the Faculty of International Marketing in Moscow State Linguistic University e closed), and with Vlad Lisovets(44), who just a couple of days ago dyed Fedorova platinum blonde. She knows him and all the other Moscow socialite characters from early years– editor-in-chief of the magazine Glamor(then a stylist) Masha Fedorova(43) took my daughter to shoot for the first time when she was about 10 years old. And away we go...

Shirt, Jil Sander (Petrovsky Passage shopping center); coat, Masterpeace (multi-brand KURSOVOY); Jeans, clutch, boots, heroine's property

The point is not that Masha wanted to open the world of gloss to her daughter as soon as possible, but that there was no one to leave the girl with at home . When Veronica was in third grade, her father left the family. Few people know about this (and if they know, they don’t talk): “I think we can talk about it now. Actually, my parents were never married and lived in a civil marriage. They were namesakes, I didn’t even have to choose a last name (laughs). It was hard for mom. Working as a stylist is not as easy as many people think. I need to pack at least 4 huge suitcases with clothes, dozens of pairs of shoes, and generally figure it all out, but my mother always tried to give me the best.”

T-shirt, BBB Knights, property of the heroine; skirt, Jil Sander (Petrovsky Passage shopping center); park, ALEXANDER TEREXOV; ring, Tiffany & Co, property of the heroine

It must be said that Veronica is not a spoiled daughter, but a well-mannered 20-year-old girl who earns her own living. She chose the path that she calls “Don’t sit on your mother’s neck” and at the age of 19 she got a job in the digital department of one of the most famous PR agencies in Moscow. RSVP

special projects manager. She is not going to follow in her mother’s footsteps, but plans to open her own establishments: “I want to be a business manager. I understand that I won’t be able to write, I won’t be able to style the shoot as cool as my mother does. Still, I can’t keep up with some trends. Right now, for example, we were at Maldives and did two shoots for Glamor: c

Lena Temnikova(31) (this is no longer a secret) and with one model. There are some things I still don't understand. Yes, I want to rip some things off the rail and put them on immediately, but some things are not about me at all. But mom knows how to mix things up in such a way that no other stylist in life would have thought of doing the same, and then it becomes a trend and stars start wearing it.” Veronica can’t go anywhere without her mother—the Fedorovs can’t spend more than two weeks apart. Now Veronica is already thinking about a second higher education – also in management, and from two options: Germany, leans towards the second - closer to mom. “My mother and I are incredibly close, and it will be much easier to travel to her from St. Petersburg than from Germany.”

But it’s still unclear how the Fedorovs will divide the family wardrobe. Veronica often wears her mother's vintage shoes Prada, as well as dresses, bags, outerwear and much more. Masha doesn't protest. The only thing he doesn't like to share is black T-shirts.“And today she went to work wearing a T-shirt with the band’s logo AC/DC, and I thought: “I have to take it from her somehow!” Fedorova laughs.

Slip dress, Marks & Spencer, heroine's property; park, ALEXANDER TEREXOV; sandals, Furla

In Veronica's closet there are also a lot of things, as they say, with history. For example, a T-shirt with the words BBN Knights(about 6 years ago she bought it in Boston when she went there on an exchange), sweatshirt 5 preview from Podium Market with a huge black hood (even the brand itself appreciated how cool it fits on Veronica and “liked” all her photos on Instagram) and a velvet slip - “You won’t believe it,” Marks & Spencer».

all slides

And yet, the most iconic thing in her wardrobe is lilac dress Alexander Terekhov , in which Veronica made her debut in 2015 at the ball Tatler, and a whole story happened to him too. “Initially it was supposed to be blue, because Sasha saw me in this color. We waited a very long time for the fabric from Italy, and when it arrived, we realized that it had been dyed lilac. But we instantly fell in love with the color, and in the end Terekhov made a beautiful dress for me.” By the way, in early March, Fedorova was scrolling through Instagram and accidentally came across a photo of an opera singer Khibli Gerzmava(47), who performed in exactly the same - and also from Terekhov - “Then I was overcome with pride,” Veronica laughs.

Do you think those who are directly related to fashion should show impeccable taste and style? Or, as a last resort, demonstrate a complete collection of the trends of the current season, as Anna Dello Russo does?

Chief Editor domestic magazine about the latest in the fashion and beauty industry Glamor, Maria Fedorova, while still working at Playboy magazine, realized that fashion was her theme. Starting as an assistant to the editor-in-chief, she rose to the position of fashion editor of a popular men's publication. Then Maria worked for several years as an editor, and later as director of the fashion department at GQ magazine. Since the founding of Glamor, Maria Fedrova has been the director of the fashion department of this magazine.

Among the critics and editors-in-chief of the fashion departments of various publications, there are often amazing personalities who, in the opinion of ordinary people, do not at all give the impression of people who are in any way involved in fashion industry. Hilary Alexander, Suzy Menkes and other equally recognized ladies, like magicians beyond categories, do not bother to look trendy and stylish. Maria Fedorova, it seems, is their number.
